Picture this: you and your closest at the coziest neighborhood bookstore where you share an authentic, emotional ceremony before rounding at the evening with a candlelit dinner. If that sounds like a dream, it is because it absolutely was for Jayden and Max.
J and M cycled through a few renditions of what the celebration of their love was to look like– there are a million ways to have a wedding– and I am so grateful that they landed exactly where they belonged with their celebration. It was a dreamy, perfect event that was emotional and romantic and silly. Every bit of who they are.
The couple settled on The Whispering Shelf as their ceremony venue, an independently owned bookstore in picturesque Lockerbie square. The event was breahtaking, and had me wondering why most weddings aren’t at a perfectly beautiful place with the best type of nostalgia– a bookstore. Nostalgia was emphasized in their polaroid film add-on, which is the cherry on top of their gallery. When couples connect with this special medium, it warms my heart.

What I particularly love about The Whispering Shelf, as a small business owner, is that they are clear on their values and committed to their mission statement. There is no ambiguity on where they stand and who they are here for and why. As a wedding vendor, I was stunned to find out that this was their first wedding as the event went so smooth that I would have expected they had done this time after time. I cannot emphasize how this bookstore is the *perfect* intimate ceremony spot.
After their beautifully lit ceremony, Jayden and Max shared a secluded moment within the bookshelves before rejoining their loved ones. Guests were able to browse through the shelves and take home titles that caught their eye. One of my favorite details was the stamp that each book received stating that it was purchased at Jayden & Max’s wedding.
The celebration then moved to a local Indianapolis staple, Iozzo’s downtown, for a candle-lit dinner with their guests, where they cut the perfect cake as their little treat to start off dinner before we headed off.

(Max was very appreciative of the mishap of a wind knocked, broken mirror and saw it as good luck.)

Guests headed off to dinner while we snagged a handful of newlywed portraits inside the bookstore and outside along the building.
